The district includes six schools and serves students in grades K-12. The schools include a K-8 school in town; a comprehensive high school; a community day school; a continuation high school and two one-room schoolhouses, one in the town of Branscomb and the other on Spy Rock.   In addition to the K-12 programs there is a state preschool program located on the elementary school campus.  The schools serve as the hub of community activity and a great source of pride.

Laytonville (and nearby Leggett) are secret jewels hidden in the northernmost regions of Mendocino County. These small communities draw visitors from all over the state (and beyond) to enjoy their music festivals and see the splendor of the Randjung Yeshe Gomde Buddhist Monastery (gomdeusa.org).

The Kate Wolf Festival (http://katewolfmusicfestival.com/) is at the end of the month. And every Second Friday, the community hosts a fun gathering with food, live music, and art.
