We need more houses in Ukiah.

Support Vineyard Crossing!

I am an adamant supporter of housing in general, and more specifically, in the Vineyard Crossing project—a project that will add 123 new homes to the entry-level home buying public in our valley.

Most of these buyers will vacate a rental to move into a home of their own. This means two things. First, families who have been trying to find an affordable home will finally have the opportunity to purchase one, something that has been impossible for many working families in Ukiah for some time. Secondly, most of these first-time buyers will be moving from an existing Ukiah rental. This means for each home purchased in Vineyard Crossing, a rental unit will become available.

At Realty World Selzer Realty, we manage approximately 650 residential units in Ukiah. As of June 13, we had two units scheduled to open up in the next 60 days. Both of these units have already been rented. Every effort our community makes to facilitate additional housing in Ukiah allows another family to have the opportunity to rent a home or even buy one.

Right now, many people who would like to have their own place must live with relatives. I have four children in their 20s living with me. While I enjoy their company, eventually, I hope they’ll be able to move out and start households of their own. Without an increase in the current housing stock, my kids (and yours) won’t have that opportunity.

I encourage you to get in touch with your county supervisor and encourage them to approve the Vineyard Crossing project. You can contact your supervisor by calling (707) 463-4441 or visiting www.mendocinocounty.org/government/board-of-supervisors.

The Vineyard Crossing project will provide additional housing without an additional strain on tax dollars or the other working families in our community.
